At the tender age of 11 I was dragged to an event in Aylesbury kicking and screaming, I hated it! Why was I being dragged half way across the country to pretend to fight in field?
It turns out because it’s amazing fun! Not until the age of 16 did I experience the battles themselves but from age 11 to now I’ve made some friends that will last me a lifetime because a unique part of being in Manchester’s is the friendships you make.
There are two main things I love about Manchester’s – one is the camaraderie and the vast array of socialising we do, be it in the Beer tent or around a campfire with other regiments, or in our own Party Gazebo! I love it all and at major events we attend you can experience all of them.
The second are the battles, especially at major events. One of the great things about joining Manchester’s is we are large regiment in an even larger society, which has the one thing a lot of other re-enactment groups are missing – SPECTACLE! Nowhere else will you get the adrenalin rush of marching into battle with literally thousands of troops around you and a real feeling of what it must have been like 350 years ago.
Come along and see what you think! I for one think it’s some of the best fun you can have with your clothes on!
Love to meet you and hope to see soon
